Iced coffee, specifically cold brew, is better than hot coffee. Iced coffee is better because it’s more refreshing to drink and has more flavor. There are many differences between the two but research suggests, iced coffee has more flavor and is much more versatile than hot coffee.

Research strongly supports the idea that iced coffee can be beneficial in protecting you against heart attacks. Dr. Yogeswaran said, “Iced coffee is surprisingly helpful as it contains compounds such as caffeine, magnesium, trigonelline, and phenolic compounds that can work by stabilizing blood pressure, increasing insulin sensitivity, and lowering blood pressure.” This means iced coffee can be beneficial to your health. A study from the University of Colorado found that drinking coffee every week can reduce the chances of getting a heart attack by 7%.

The difference in brewing methods, between cold and hot, creates different tastes in coffee; there are chemical differences between the two. Cold brew coffee is higher in antioxidants because, when brewing hot coffee, the heat destroys most of the antioxidants. Cold and hot brewed coffee were compared by researchers for a study to see the levels of acidity, antioxidants, and caffeine. The study found little difference in caffeine levels but they found vast differences in antioxidants and acidity. Cold brew is 67% less acidic, which makes it better for your stomach and teeth. Acidity is the cause of bitterness in coffee.

Due to its low acidity, cold brew is more flavorful and less bitter, making it more versatile to be made into a larger variety of drinks. Some people say hot coffee is more traditional, but it’s more common these days that people enjoy iced coffee more.
